Ingredients

For the Pork

  • 200 g thinly sliced pork
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 –3 tsp freshly grated ginger

For the Sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp mirin
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sugar

For Serving

  • Steamed white rice
  • Finely diced scallions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

Marinate the Pork

  • In a bowl, combine the sliced pork with the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and freshly grated ginger. Toss until the pork is evenly coated.

  • While the pork marinates, prepare the sauce.

Make the Sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, water and sugar.
  • Set aside.

Cook the Pork

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with cooking oil. Add the marinated pork and cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking apart the slices as they cook. This should take about 3 minutes.

Add the Sauce

  • Pour the prepared sauce into the pan and allow it to simmer for about 30 seconds, or until it thickens into a glossy glaze.
  • If the sauce becomes too thick, simply stir in 1 tablespoon of water until it reaches your desired consistency.

Assemble

  • Spoon freshly cooked rice into a bowl. Top with the glazed pork and finish with finely diced scallions and sesame seeds.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
